The work Golden Ratio mirrors Leonardo da Vinci’s iconic drawing, Vitruvian Man, inviting the viewer to explore the perfect and the flawed aspects of humanity and its system of beliefs, both outwardly and, most importantly, inwardly. Using the universal image of perfect proportion, Carmi offers a perspective on human self-reflection and the ceaseless pursuit of the unattainable, the perfect, the iconic.
In his creation, Carmi examines a complex relationship between the body and belief, between divinity and atheism, engaging with unattainable aesthetics trapped within human systems of beliefs and actions.
The smooth edges of the circle will always be wounded by the rough corners of the square that we are.
